U.S. Food and Drug Administration grants clearance to Hemp Oil Canada Generally Recognized as Safe submission

STE. AGATHE, Manitoba, Dec. 21, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Hemp Oil Canada, Inc., the global leader in ingredients, announces that the company's complete line of hemp seeds, oil and protein powder have received Food and Drug Administration (FDA) clearance as Generally Recognized as Safe (GRAS). This is a significant first for the hemp industry, as Hemp Oil Canada is the only company to proactively gather and provide the scientific evidence necessary to affirm this sought-after Food and Drug Administration designation, which recognizes a substance as safe among experts.

The following statement was issued by FDA Commissioner Scott Gottlieb, M.D.:
"We are announcing that the agency has completed our evaluation of three Generally Recognized as Safe (GRAS) notices related to hulled hemp seeds, hemp seed protein and hemp seed oil and that the agency had no questions regarding the company's conclusion that the use of such products as described in the notices is safe. Therefore, these products can be legally marketed in human foods for these uses without food additive approval, provided they comply with all other requirements and do not make disease treatment claims."
