U.S. Merchandise Range for the Hit Series HOUSE M.D. Expands Through Innovative Watch Design Featuring Medical Functions

GLASHUETTE, Germany, May 16, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- As its seventh season comes to a close, avid HOUSE M.D. viewers can enjoy another officially licensed product bearing the HOUSE M.D. name. The HOUSE M.D. watch, previously only available in Germany, will be available in the U.S. in the upcoming months.

"We are happy to make the exclusive HOUSE M.D. pulsometer chronograph available in the U.S. market," said Maik Liesche, owner and managing director of Kronsegler GmbH, the German firm that both designed and manufactures the watch. "We are certain that the hand-assembled, high-quality product will be enjoyed not only for keeping time, but also due to its connection to the show and its medical design and functions."

The HOUSE M.D.-themed watch is linked with the show in several ways: the HOUSE M.D. logo appears on the face; the central stop hand is shaped as an Aesculapian staff, a traditional medical symbol; the chronograph movement is calibrated for 30 heartbeats; the case is made of surgical steel; and it features a pulsemeter for measuring breathing rate and pulse. Men's models also come with a tachymeter.

"Our goal was to create a chronograph that is as accurate and individual as the Gregory House character, but also to give it features and functions related to traditional medical concepts," said Liesche. "Based on incredible sales in Germany since its release in 2009, including a position in Amazon.de's Top 10, we think we've reached our goal."

The chronograph's German origins and manufacture may sound surprising, but the show attracts over 80 million viewers worldwide, and has been the top-rated drama in several foreign countries, including Germany.

Kronsegler GmbH, located in the town of Glashuette in Saxony, Germany, has produced watches for the mid-market and upper mid-market segments since 2003. Its designs and functional innovations are often based on themes, many of which are historical, astronomical-mathematical, and philosophical. To date, it has brought over 35 designs and 170 models onto the market. The HOUSE M.D. chronograph is Kronsegler's first model being introduced in the U.S. market, and will be among the models presented by the firm at JCK Las Vegas 2011 on June 3 - 6, 2011.
