USCHPA Announces Leadership Change
WASHINGTON, Jan. 25, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The United States Combined Heat & Power Association (USCHPA) today announced the appointment of Dale Louda as the organization's new Executive Director. Louda, who has spent more than 25 years as an energy and environment professional, begins his new duties effective immediately.
USCHPA Board Chair Joseph Allen of Solar Turbines (Caterpillar's gas turbine subsidiary) commented, "Everyone in the USCHPA family is delighted that Dale has agreed to lead our organization. His enthusiasm for combined heat and power and his unique understanding of our issues will be important as we seek to educate policy makers and the public about the significant benefits of CHP. With Dale's leadership, we believe we can make significant progress toward achieving the President's 40 GW goal for new CHP by 2020 that was advanced in the August 30, 2012 Executive Order."
The U.S. Combined Heat and Power Association is the leading voice for the CHP industry. Combined heat and power technologies produce both electricity and steam or hot water from a single fuel source and have the added benefit of being located near the consumer. These efficient systems recover heat that normally would be wasted if traditional separate electrical power generation and thermal energy production methods were used. Currently supplying twelve percent of U.S. electricity generating capacity, CHP systems can reach efficiencies above eighty percent (80%).
"I am looking forward to leading the USCHPA at this time when CHP is gaining recognition for the key benefits it can deliver to the U.S. energy mix in terms of efficiency, security, power reliability, and green house gas reduction. Recent events like Hurricane Sandy where CHP was able to keep-the-lights-on along with the broader national energy debate on energy efficiency and green house gas reduction are just some of the policy opportunities that we can be engaged in over the coming months and years," said Louda.
About USCHPA: The mission of the U.S. Combined Heat & Power Association is to increase deployment of combined heat and power systems in the U.S. USCHPA provides superior advocacy, networking, education, and market information to companies in the business of CHP and works to develop sound clean energy policy and marketplace solutions that support investment in combined heat and power.
