Using Amazon's 'Subscribe and Save' Program to Save Money and Simplify Life
ST. LOUIS, Nov. 26, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- Personal Finance Blog ChristianPF.com published an article discussing the benefits and real savings potential of using Amazon.com's Subscribe and Save program. The Subscribe and Save program is a little-known program that allows customers to make purchases of select items on a subscription basis (every 1, 2, 3, or 6 months) which yields the customer an additional 15% off the regular price. Combined with the time saved by not having to go to the store to purchase the items, it really is a great tool for shoppers. The article contains a chart showing the potential cost savings of using the Subscribe and Save program vs. a local grocer or Walmart.
An excerpt from the article...
I wanted to dig in and do a little comparison shopping to see how the prices stack up. From what I have seen it seems like it would be pretty easy to save a couple hundred dollars a year using Amazon's Subscribe and Save program. I did some comparisons vs. my local grocery store and some against Walmart (who prides themselves on low prices). As you can tell below, not every item came out cheaper (against Walmart) using the Subscribe and Save, but some of them came out big winners. And if you factor the cost of your time and fuel costs, etc., you could make a strong argument for Amazon's program.
