WASHINGTON, Sept. 25, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Leaders of United Steelworkers (USW) Local 7-669 were on the streets of the nation's capital to give voice to their issues in the lockout of 150 union workers at Honeywell Corp. by demonstrating at the company's offices and lobbying firms of Akin Gump, OB C Group, McBee Strategic, and Duberstein Group.
The actions came as a lockout at the Metropolis, IL uranium conversion facility nears the end of the second month at Honeywell. Local 7-669 says the company has ramped up political spending over the last several years of nearly 6 million dollars in the current election cycle combined with a major lobbying presence in the nation's capital.
The USW workers from Metropolis delivered letters to the lobby firms, which Honeywell has contracted, while also demonstrating outside of Honeywell's Washington, D.C. headquarters.
The Steelworkers were joined in Washington by other unions and the D.C. Metro AFL-CIO. Negotiations between Honeywell and USW Local 7-669 are set to resume October 2-3.
