PITTSBURGH, April 12, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The United Steelworkers (USW) and longtime ally the Pittsburgh A. Philip Randolph Institute (APRI) are proud to announce their collaboration with the Thelma Lovette YMCA and the Energy Innovation Center. This partnership will build upon the APRI's existing work force development program, "Breaking the Chains of Poverty," to promote access to exercise facilities among marginalized communities, as well as providing skill-building and career opportunities to the families who already utilize the YMCA. To kick off this partnership, the groups will be unveiling a USW-sponsored scoreboard, which will be followed by two basketball games: one an Amateur Athletic Union match and another featuring the Pittsburgh Steelwheelers, members of the National Wheelchair Basketball Association.
