VaccUFlex™ Makes Everyday Vacuum Cleaner More Versatile
Invention spurred by home expansion after birth of "miracle baby"
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz., Feb. 13, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- When Joseph Welchert's "miracle baby" was born, Welchert and his wife quickly found it necessary to add on to their home. Part of the new addition was an outdoor area with a chandelier that filled up with bugs and debris on a weekly basis -- and the only way to clean it was to disassemble all of its globes. Undaunted, the Welcherts figured out a simple way to use their existing vacuum cleaner to clean the chandelier, and patent-pending VaccUFlex™ (http://www.vaccuflex.com) was born.
VaccUFlex™ consists of four sizes of small-diameter flexible tubing hoses and two specially engineered thermoplastic rubber caps that attach easily to wet/dry, upright or canister vacuum hoses. The flexible tubing will not collapse with vacuuming, and the caps' design ensures VaccUFlex™ will not become clogged. The tube end of VaccUFlex is soft enough to shape with ordinary household scissors to enable it to clean angled or oddly shaped areas.
Although Welchert originally created VaccUFlex to remove small objects from hard-to-reach areas, VaccUFlex has a myriad of uses. "Anyone who has ever struggled to detail a car, dust return-air vents, remove lint from a dryer vent, thoroughly clean refrigerator coils, clean slider window tracks, blow dust and grime out of computer keyboards and components, or inflate (or deflate) an air mattress will appreciate the product's versatility," said Welchert.
Kateco LLC began selling VaccUFlex online in December 2011. In less than two months, it has garnered fans around the world -- including Linda Cobb, the Queen of Clean®, who advised her readers, "The VaccUFlex will turn your vacuum into a more usable cleaning machine that you can use for all those miserable little jobs that the vacuum never worked for before. Clean your chandelier without taking it apart, clean the dryer vent and prevent dryer fires, use it to clean any small area, use it in autos and workshops ... You are only limited by your imagination. You will not believe the suction it creates with your vacuum."
The VaccUFlex kit is made in the USA and contains two non-corrosive, durable caps that fit 2 1/2-inch, 1 7/8-inch, 1 1/2-inch, and 1 1/4-inch vacuum hoses. VaccUFlex caps are ribbed on the inside for a snug fit and allow breathing to help reduce stress on the vacuum motor. The VaccUFlex kit also includes two feet of 5/8-inch flexible vinyl tubing, one foot of half-inch tubing, one foot of 3/8-inch tubing, and one foot of quarter-inch tubing. The retail price of the VaccUFlex kit is just $14.95 plus shipping and handling.
"It's been said that necessity is the mother of invention, and the story behind the development of VaccUFlex is certainly no exception," said Welchert. "VaccUFlex solved a problem for me, and I knew it could do the same for anyone else. We are thrilled to bring our product to market and look forward to hearing about how people use it in their own homes."
