VaporFi Retracts Statements of Sponsorship for A Billion Lives Screening
MIAMI, Dec. 1, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- On Wednesday Nov. 21st VaporFi launched a campaign that sponsored the screening of highly acclaimed documentary, A Billion Lives, across eight cities in the U.S. We have come to realize that the wording used in our campaign was ambiguous and we'd like to correct the misapprehension. VaporFi did not, by any means, sponsor the making, production, marketing, or distribution of A Billion Lives, what we attempted to sponsor was its viewing at eight of our store location's cities.
As a company in the vaping industry, we wanted to show our support to individuals and companies who shed light on the various efforts designed to suppress alternatives to cigarettes, the importance of education and its impact on the perception of our industry. We are extremely impressed by the filmmakers work and strongly believe that A Billion Lives has done so much to educate its viewers. As such, we wanted to band our stores together to tap into our reach and host a nationwide viewing of the documentary to share the inspiring journey with our patrons and the community at large, in hindsight we realize the verbiage should have read, "VaporFi is promoting A Billion Lives screenings in eight cities."
"The reach of our sponsorship began and ended by purchasing 25 percent of tickets at corporate oriented cities and offering them to our patrons in-store. We understand that the appearance of the sponsorship by any outside source may hinder the credibility A Billion Lives has established by not accepting any corporate funds for the production of the documentary, but that was not our intent," said Nick Molina, CEO of VaporFi.
