SAN JOSE, Calif. and HUDSON, N.H., May 14, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Symmetricom®, Inc. A new partner in the ecosystem's Small Cells category, Vectron's VT-803 Temperature Compensated Crystal Oscillator (TCXO) was recently tested and validated for both Network Time Protocol (NTP) and Precision Time Protocol (PTP) with Symmetricom's SCr/SCe SoftClocks. The solution combines a Symmetricom SoftClock (SCr for residential deployments and SCe for enterprise) with embedded major baseband processors and a Vectron oscillator.

"Vectron has supported Symmetricom's leading-edge timing platforms for more than 15 years and our relationship continues to grow," said Paul Gilbride, director of product marketing at Vectron International. "With Vectron's TCXO products, together we plan to meet the high performance and cost-effective demands of synchronization solutions used in residential and enterprise small cells deployments."

The transition to all-IP networks and the migration to 4G/LTE networks demand strict timing and synchronization requirements. Successful integration and interoperability are key to ensuring that customers' end-to-end deployments will maintain service continuity around the clock. To meet these requirements and support the transition to packetized backhaul networks and 4G/LTE mobile platforms, Symmetricom established the SyncWorld Ecosystem Program to enable interoperability and cooperation among vendors delivering on service providers' advanced network requirements.

"Highly precise oscillators are vital components of delivering successful small cells deployments," said Manish Gupta, vice president of marketing and business development for Symmetricom. "With the addition of Vectron as a partner in the Small Cells category, we are delighted to expand the family of oscillators that interoperate with Symmetricom SoftClock solutions."
