Veracruz Media Secures Exclusive Rights to Cantinflas for Broadcast & Merchandise

LOS ANGELES, Sept. 18, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Veracruz Media LLC, a Los Angeles-based production and licensing company, announced that it has secured a broad range of exclusive rights to the legendary animated character, Cantinflas, for global distribution and licensing everywhere outside of Mexico. These rights include but are not limited to all merchandise and apparel licensing, TV broadcasting, and Internet distribution of the entire animated series "Cantinflas Show" and "Amigo and Friends." Veracruz also has the exclusive rights to develop, produce, and distribute new episodes of these enduring and enormously popular children's shows.

In his time, Cantinflas came to represent the national identity of Mexico and is still a beloved icon of the common man throughout the Spanish-speaking world. Originally debuting in 1972 and re-animated by Hanna-Barbera a decade later, both animated Cantinflas series continue to have wide multi-generational appeal today, as nostalgic Latino parents who grew up with the shows are now introducing Cantinflas to their own children. Translated into several languages when they were first released, the Cantinflas cartoons delve into a wide range of educational topics and are a huge draw to children of all cultures.
