STATE COLLEGE, Pa., Nov. 10, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- VideoMining Corp., the leading provider of in-store behavior analytics for Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) manufacturers and retailers, announced that Sanjay Mittal has joined as President and CEO. In addition, the company is moving its corporate headquarters to Santa Clara, California.
Mittal is a successful technology entrepreneur and has worked with some of the largest companies in manufacturing, finance, and retail. His first venture was Selectica, a pioneer in internet sales and configuration solutions for large enterprises, where he built the company from scratch to a very successful $5 Billion IPO in 2000. More recently he co-founded Spotzot, a mobile marketing company that provided location-based retail offers. Spotzot was acquired earlier this year by Valassis, a leader in retail coupon delivery. Before starting Selectica, Sanjay had a distinguished career as a research scientist in Artificial Intelligence at Xerox Palo Alto Research Center (PARC) after completing a PhD in Computer Science from The Ohio State University and BTech from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur.
Mittal joins a team that has successfully developed deep relationships with a majority of the top 50 CPG manufacturers and retailers in the U.S. and created the largest patent portfolio for in-store behavior analytics. VideoMining's deep analytics platform, called ShopperFirst™, fills a major need in CPG Retail by employing a suite of sensing technologies, integration with multiple data sources and prescriptive analytics to create comprehensive solutions for optimizing marketing and merchandising strategies.
VideoMining's syndicated tracking programs in Grocery and Convenience channels have become the industry standard for shopper insights and performance benchmarking, bringing clarity to a previously unmeasured area. Numerous case studies, presented at industry conferences with clients like PepsiCo, Hershey, Heinz, Tyson, Sara Lee and Red Bull, demonstrate the immediate benefits of utilizing the ShopperFirst™ platform across a wide range of applications in Category Management, Shopper Marketing and Brand Innovation. Examples include optimizing displays, tracking Omnichannel campaigns, need-based merchandising, optimizing aisle flow, multi-category consumer decision trees and targeting by shopper demographics.
Beginning in mid-November, VideoMining will transition its headquarters to Santa Clara, providing greater access to talent and resources necessary to sustain the company's accelerated growth. The company will retain technology development and operations in State College, PA. Founder and current CEO, Rajeev Sharma, will assume the role of Executive Chairman and Chief Analytics Officer and continue to provide leadership and expertise across multiple areas of the company.
"I am delighted to welcome Sanjay to lead the company," said Rajeev Sharma, Executive Chairman of VideoMining. "His entrepreneurial experience and deep technology background are a fantastic match to our goal of extending VideoMining's leadership in deep analytics of in-store behavior. We're aggressively growing our retailer footprint and fielding new applications of our ShopperFirst™ platform, so the timing is perfect."
