MIAMI, May 30, 2017 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- eMerge Americas today announced the participation of Visa in the eMerge Americas 2017 technology conference taking place in Miami this coming June 12 and 13. TS Anil, Head of Global Products for Visa, and Luz Adriana Ramirez, Country Manager for Visa Mexico, are confirmed as speakers. As an eMerge Americas 2017 presenting partner, Visa is also sponsoring the pre-event Hackathon and Startup Showcase. This event provides a diverse, multicultural and collaborative environment to share ideas and plans to build the payments solutions of the future.
The two-day conference will include summits, keynotes, startup competitions and networking. As part of his presentation titled Collaborating to Create the Future of Payments, TS Anil will speak about key payment trends, and how fintechs participate in the co-creation process. On June 13, Luz Adriana Ramirez will take the stage for the Women, Innovation & Technology panel, where speakers will discuss strategies to bridge the gender gap in the tech industry.
"At Visa, we are committed to innovate in order to provide the best consumer experience. We look forward to working with local startups and the fintech community during eMerge Americas 2017, in order to keep developing new payment solutions," said Allen Cueli, Senior Director of Product and New Payment Enablers. "It is essential to work together, plug into and build off others' innovations."
Visa is a main sponsor of the eMerge Americas 2017 Hackathon, taking place June 9 and 10. For a chance at $6,000 in cash and an opportunity to meet Apple co-founder Steve Woznaik, Hackathon participants have 24 hours to tackle complex challenges presented by industry-leading API sponsors. Visa is also sponsoring the Startup Showcase on June 11, where startups from three tracks showcase their innovations for the opportunity to win up to $175,000 in prizes.
"In the spirit of open collaboration, we opened our payment network to work with third parties to provide the best solutions and consumer experience to end users. Visa Developer Platform offers access to some of Visa's most popular payment technologies and services APIs, so that third parties can integrate them into their solutions," added Cueli.
Visa's approach to innovation is based on collaborating with multiple organizations that strive to improve the experience of consumers, including financial institutions, retail, governments, fintech and startups.

(NYSE: V) is a global payments technology company that connects consumers, businesses, financial institutions, and governments in more than 200 countries and territories to fast, secure and reliable electronic payments.
