VoIP Pioneer Roman Scharf Joins HarQen Board
JAJAH Co-Founder Brings Global Telecom Expertise & Vision to HarQen
MILWAUKEE, May 26 /PRNewswire/ -- HarQen, the next-generation web telephony company behind VoiceScreener, announced today the addition of Roman Scharf to its board of directors. "Roman brings rich expertise and relationships to HarQen," said HarQen co-founder and CEO E. Kelly Fitzsimmons. "Roman's expertise in the voice market will be pivotal to HarQen's growth."
HarQen's board chairman Lauren Flanagan said, "Roman thinks big and global." Ms. Flanagan is managing director of the Phenomenelle Angels Fund, the lead investor in HarQen. "With his in-depth VoIP and telecom experience and the key relationships he has forged, Roman can help drive positive returns for all HarQen stakeholders."
"HarQen's technology is disruptive," said Mr. Scharf. "Their unique approach to view voice as an asset will change the game in many industries."
Currently the Chairman & CEO of Talenthouse, a global platform for the world's creative community, Mr. Scharf began his career as a management consultant with the ECOS Consulting Group. He went on to become an original angel investor, and later a member of the management team, in Ecotech Software GmbH, becoming CEO of Ecotech Software Germany, the group's main branch. Rockwool International A/S (ROCKB:CD) acquired Ecotech in 2005.
In 2006 Roman co-founded JAJAH with Daniel Mattes and introduced web-activated telephony – the world's first purely web-based global calling solution. Roman served as President and CMO of JAJAH and sold the company to Telefonica SA (TEF:SM) for over $200 million, after only 3 years of operations.
"We are in a period of creative destruction in the telecom space," added Mr. Scharf. "The whole industry is in a deadly spiral of 'who delivers more for less.' I am excited about HarQen since they look at voice from a different angle. At HarQen the spoken word becomes an asset – easy to access, share, tag, act upon and archive.
