WakeMed Cary Hospital Honored for Asset Tracking Program
IDTechEx award earned after implementing TeleTracking's RadarFind RTLS
CARY, N.C. and MORRISVILLE, N.C., Nov. 17, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- WakeMed Health & Hospitals' Cary Hospital has been awarded Best Application of Active RFID/RTLS for its implementation of TeleTracking Technologies' RadarFind real-time locating system (RTLS). Judges from the global analyst firm IDTechEx named WakeMed Cary Hospital the award winner after considering the value that the RTLS program offered the hospital and how the implementation team successfully deployed the technology.
"This award recognizes the impact of the RTLS program at WakeMed," said Mary Schilder, director of information services consulting for WakeMed. "RadarFind played a critical role in this achievement as they consistently worked alongside our team to ensure a successful deployment and identified continued opportunities for improvements to operational efficiency and cost reductions."
RadarFind's RTLS uses patented sensor-network technology to achieve room-level accuracy and operates wirelessly via a radio frequency ideally suited for accurately tracking both assets and people without compromising a hospital's Wi-Fi network. After analyzing data gathered by the system on equipment utilization, RadarFind helped WakeMed Cary Hospital reduce its inventory of rented IV pumps by 20 percent.
WakeMed Cary Hospital implemented RadarFind's asset tracking in 2008 and has collaborated with RadarFind as a development partner since that time, providing feedback that has helped guide further enhancements to the system.
"Our collaboration with WakeMed and the recognition they have received with this IDTechEx award further validates how hospitals can achieve and document a rapid return on investment while helping hospital staff work more efficiently," said Mike Nelson, president of RadarFind.
IDTechEx provides independent marketing, technical and business advice and is recognized for its expertise in the RFID and RTLS industries. This year's awards were presented at the Wireless Sensor Networks & RTLS Summit, which covers advances in RFID, RTLS and Wireless Sensor Network technology.
