Walden University's Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) Accredited by Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education
School of Nursing now offers a complete portfolio of CCNE-accredited degree programs
MINNEAPOLIS, June 4, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Walden University's School of Nursing announced today that its Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) program, in its first year of eligibility, received professional accreditation from the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), the national accrediting agency for undergraduate and graduate education programs in nursing. This accreditation affirms Walden's DNP program meets rigorous academic and professional standards and effectively prepares nurses to make an impact in their profession. It also provides stronger evidence that Walden's nursing program is of the highest caliber and is continually improving its students' outcomes.
With this recent program accreditation, Walden now offers a complete portfolio of CCNE-accredited degree programs. These include the Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) program with specializations in Adult-Gerontology Nurse Practitioner, Family Nurse Practitioner, Leadership and Management, Nursing Education and Nursing Informatics and the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) Completion Program.
"We are proud that Walden's DNP program received accreditation in its first year of eligibility, a further indication of the quality of the program and testament to the dedication and commitment of our entire School of Nursing. This designation will further strengthen all of our nursing degree programs and enhance the future success of our students," said Dr. Andrea Lindell, associate dean for the School of Nursing.
Walden's DNP, MSN and BSN programs are designed to help students use evidence-based practice to enhance patient care and develop leadership skills. Nursing students learn from expert faculty members, 100% of whom hold doctoral degrees.
In addition to CCNE accreditation, Walden has received professional accreditation in all of its main areas of graduate study, including management (ACBSP), counseling (CACREP), and education (NCATE). Earning such professional accreditations, along with its recent regional reaffirmation of accreditation for 10 more years through The Higher Learning Commission (HLC), demonstrates that Walden meets rigorous quality standards, offers programs of high quality, uses effective teaching methods, and supports student achievement.
