Walnut Creek Bulldawgs 14u Tournament-Only Competitive Baseball Team Tryouts - October 25/26, 2014
WALNUT CREEK, Calif., Oct. 2, 2014 The Walnut Creek Bulldawgs will be holding try-outs for its highly competitive Spring 14u tournament-only team on Saturday, October 25, 2014 from 1:30 to 3:30 pm at Heather Farms, Field 6 for players with a last name starting with the letters A-L. Players with a last name starting M-Z will try out on Sunday, October 26, 2014 from 1:30 to 3:30 pm at the same location. The 14u competitive tournament baseball team's coaching staff includes Head Coach Kevin Stanley and Assistant Coach Mike Reuvekamp. The team will be managed by Ken Jones. Coach Stanley was a four year varsity starter at Las Lomas High School, was drafted in the 2007 MLB Draft but chose not to sign, was a member of 2009 DVC team that made it to the Final Four of the CA State Championship, and finished his career at UCSB. Coach Reuvekamp was the shortstop of the 2009 Miramonte High School NCS Championship team, starting middle infielder and catcher at the University of California from 2012-2014, and is now an assistant coach at Cal.
In addition, the team's pitchers will receive weekly individualized pitching instruction from Matt Jarvis, a former major league pitcher with among other teams, the Orioles and Giants, at the Bulldawgs' indoor training facility, The Fieldhouse in Concord.
The 14u team will begin indoor strength, speed and agility, hitting, pitching and catching training in November 2014 at the Fieldhouse. Field practices and tournaments will run from the beginning of January through the end of May, 2015.
The goal of the 14u competitive tournament baseball team is to prepare its players to excel in higher levels of baseball. The team's players will be taught how to handle adversity not only on the baseball field, but in life as well. Through knowledgeable instruction, repetition, hard work and accountability, we plan on helping each player reach their full potential as an athlete, teammate and individual.
