Walter Stahel and Sir Ian Cheshire Headline Final Day of Resource Event
LONDON, March 6, 2014 /PRNewswire/ --
Resource, Europe's leading event for the circular economy, was brought to a close with headline sessions from Walter Stahel, Founder-Director, Product Life Institute and Sir Ian Cheshire Group Chief Executive of Kingfisher plc.
Following Walter Stahel's keynote address, during which he discussed how government and legislators can foster a profitable circular economy, he commented:
"Resource is a key event because it brings all the different groups together from industry, government and different regions and as the circular economy is basically a holistic optimisation of stock or capital of nature or manufacturing then it makes sense to apply the same logic to the exhibition."
"There are always new ideas and innovative examples for people interested in the topic. It is by creating synergies between all the people interested that we can promote the idea the fastest."
Sir Ian Cheshire promoted the importance of collaboration and the opportunities of a circular economy during his keynote interview on retailer strategies and which products lend themselves to circular economy. Sir Ian stated:
"Everyone's business model can be re-invented in an interesting and innovative way by looking at it through a circular economy lens. So whilst we are early in this process I would just say this is where the opportunities are - so go and look."
"Secondly is I do think you have to connect with other people and this is why this is a terrific event, because it gets people interested in the possible opportunities for both collaboration and innovation."
Commenting on the amazing success of the inaugural Resource and the plans for next year's event Stephen Gee, Event Director said:
"We have been delighted by the response to the first Resource Event - it demonstrates the thirst for knowledge and desire for organisations to shift thinking and move towards circular business models. Resource has provided a fantastic platform in which to enable circular economy movement to network, debate and learn and we are already excited about the opportunities that next years' event will bring."
Resource 2015 will take place 3-5 March at London's ExCeL Centre.
Resource - 4-6 March 2014, ExCeL, London
Resource is the first conference and exhibition that connects the whole supply chain - extraction, design, recycling, manufacturing, retail and resource recovery - to capitalise on the commercial opportunities of a circular economy. A resource constrained world demands new thinking and new business models, this event allows senior business leaders to network throughout the supply chain and discover forward thinking solutions for closed loop business strategies.
