Wayne County Partners With Universal Parking Management To Save County Hundreds Of Thousands Over Next Ten Years
DETROIT, Feb. 14, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- In June of 2012, Wayne County appointed Universal Parking Management to take over the management of Wayne County's First Street Parking Garage. Since taking over the management of the First Street Parking Garage, Universal Parking Management has reduced the overall operating expenses of the Parking Garage by 20% amounting to an annual savings for the County of $272,758. This was largely accomplished by a 59% reduction in labor costs and a 75% reduction in management fees.
In November of 2013, Universal Parking Management partnered with Eco-Green-Energy, based in Eastpointe, MI to provide additional savings for the County owned First Street Parking Garage. Eco-Green-Energy had already established an impressive track record, having completed six (6) previous parking garage installations downtown, which included the Compuware Executive garage, Detroit Athletic Club and First National Parking Garage.
Eco-Green-Energy replaced over 380 old, inefficient parking garage fixtures with new, CREE LED parking garage fixtures manufactured in the United States and carrying a ten (10) year manufacturer's warranty. In coordinating the one-time DTE Incentive, the initial cost to Wayne County was reduced by over $56,000. It is estimated that the installation of the CREE LED parking garage fixtures will save the County over $72,000 annually in energy and maintenance costs, or over $700,000 over the course of the ten (10) year warranty.
