Web Publishing Platform Tackk Launches Public Beta, Attracts Seed Capital
CLEVELAND, Sept. 5, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Tackk, a web-based publishing platform focused on single use and disposable content, today announced it has entered public beta and secured a seed round of investment of $400,000 from Hatch Partners along with several Cleveland area investors.
"Tackk fills a gap between small, spontaneous messages like Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter and larger, more complex content commitments like Wordpress, Tumblr, and Blogger," said Tackk CEO Christopher Celeste.
Common uses of Tackk thus far include invitations, events, for sale items, recipes, job and apartment listings, birth announcements, and trip photos.
"We wanted Tackk to be no more complicated than tacking a flier to a coffee shop bulletin board," said Tackk Co-Founder Eric Bockmulller. "That meant not requiring users to join yet another community or create another login in order to start creating content."
"Tackk is inherently casual," he added.
Tackks can be customized with 30 colors, 15 fonts, and 15 backgrounds, as well as photos, embedded media, maps, comments, contact forms, and customizable URLs.
Celeste recently joined Tackk as its chief executive officer after a two year period of strategic involvement with the company. Celeste is co-founder of Hatch Partners and digital audiobook company, Findaway World.
Robert Hatta, also of Hatch, joined Tackk as chief operating officer. Prior to Tackk, Hatta served as vice president of JumpStart, Inc., a Cleveland-based accelerator and has held senior marketing positions at Apple, Netflix, and Virgin Mobile USA.
Along with the launch and funding announcements, Tackk announced a new strategic partnership with digital agency Resource Interactive, which will head up Tackk's mobile platform and enterprise development.
Tackk is a simple new format that allows anyone to instantly create, publish and share beautiful content on the web. No software or login is required. No design skill needed. No community to join. Just visit the Tackk home page and start typing. When you're done creating your Tackk, share it with your social network or the Internet at large. To start Tackking, visit http://tackk.com
