WellMed Opens 3 More Texas Senior Clinics

SAN ANTONIO, Nov. 3, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- WellMed Medical Management has opened three new Texas clinics in its medical group, expanding access to quality healthcare for Medicare-eligible seniors in Austin, the Coastal Bend and Rio Grande Valley.

Clinics open as of Nov. 1 are:

• WellMed Senior Clinic at Rosewood, 2222 Rosewood (Austin)
• Corpus Christi Senior Clinic at Santa Fe,  1215 Santa Fe St. (Corpus Christi)
• Mission Senior Clinic by WellMed, 2013 East Griffin Parkway (Mission)  

Rosewood is the fourth WellMed clinic in Austin. The Mission and Corpus Christi clinics are the first in the Rio Grande Valley and Coastal Bend regions, respectively, under the WellMed Medical Group umbrella. Earlier this year, WellMed opened its first El Paso clinic.

The additions expand the healthcare company's claim as the largest primary care provider for seniors in Texas, where WellMed clinics serve more than 26,000 Medicare-eligible patients.

WellMed Senior Clinics feature several senior-friendly features, such as no-glare lighting, non-slip flooring and extra-wide hallways.  Clinics are equipped with labs and staffed by healthcare providers sensitive to the unique healthcare needs of the aging.

In each of the new markets, WellMed is accepting patients enrolled in Medicare Advantage plans through Physicians Health Choice (www.phccares.com), a subsidiary HMO. Clinics also accept Medicare patients on a fee-for-service basis.
