WeSC Relaunches US distribution, Terminates License Agreement and Names Joseph Janus CEO of WeSC America Inc.

NEW YORK, Dec. 3, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- WeSC – WeAretheSuperlativeConspiracy (NYSE: WESC.ST) today has announced that it has signed a termination agreement with Oved Apparel Group in regards to US license and distribution, thereby taking all US operations for the brand in-house.

The acquisition from Oved Apparel Group, with whom WeSC started working with in June 2012, includes all apparel categories in addition to the consumer electronic division.  The move allows WeSC to implement a controlled US distribution strategy with original WeSC designs. Future distribution for the US includes three to four WeSC retail stores opening over the course of the next 18 months.

WeSC will operate as an independent corporation within the US, with design and production support coming from the global HQ in Sweden. Last month the brand announced a new design team that includes menswear designer Mattias Sahlin, most recently of surf brand Encore, and women's design duo Natalia Altewai and Randa Saome, from the Swedish fashion brand ALTEWAISAOME.  While the majority of design will continue to be led out of Sweden, WeSC America is eager to employ local vendors where ever possible, creating exclusive pieces for the US.

Joseph Janus, with 20 years experience from the industry, has been appointed as Chief Executive Officer of WeSC America Inc. Janus is a former advertising and marketing SVP of Calvin Klein and Creative Director of Bodhi.  While at Calvin Klein, he was responsible for launching new brand extensions in fragrance, fashion and accessories including Calvin Klein Jeans, underwear, handbags and CK one. Janus also created the luxury handbag line Bodhi, with distribution in top retailers and expanded the Bodhi brand to include both men's and Tech collections.
