SAN DIEGO and WASHINGTON, Dec. 18, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Today, the West Health Institute commended the Senate Finance Committee Chronic Care working group for the release of their Chronic Care Options Paper which outlines policies under consideration that aim to improve chronic disease management for Medicare beneficiaries.
"We applaud the bipartisan Senate Working Group for the significant progress they have made to develop innovative solutions to the challenges faced by Medicare beneficiaries," said Shelley Lyford, president and chief executive officer of the West Health Institute. "By improving care transitions, producing better patient outcomes and increasing efficiency, this work can help more beneficiaries with chronic conditions receive care in their own homes on their own terms, enabling them to age successfully, with dignity and independence."
Released today by Senate Finance Committee Chairman Hatch and Ranking Member Wyden and Senators Isakson and Warner, key options under consideration include:
- Providing high-quality healthcare in the home
- Improving access to interdisciplinary, team-based healthcare
- Expanding innovation in benefit design and access to technology
- Identifying ways to improve payments and quality for the chronically ill population
- Empowering patients and caregivers in care delivery
In June, the West Health Institute joined other key stakeholders in submitting its policy recommendations and comments to the Finance Committee's working group in order to improve care for this vulnerable population.
