The IDC European Vertical Markets Survey was carried out between August and September 2013 in the top 5 Western European countries (France, Germany, Italy, Spain, and the U.K.) among 1,651 companies with more than 10 employees. The vertical markets include financial services, process manufacturing, discrete manufacturing, healthcare, telecom/media, utilities/oil and gas, retail/wholesale, professional services/transport, and government/education.

"A slow recovery will characterize the IT budget scenario in 2014, with a cautious optimism leading companies to carefully invest and look for the best channel that could propose a suitable advanced offering at a reasonable price," said Andrea Siviero, research analyst, IDC European Industry Solutions.
