What Goes On Tribe, Stays On Tribe.
Tribe, a 5 second, looping video network, is only for your 10 closest friends.
TEL AVIV, Israel, June 25, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Tribe, a new social media app featuring 5 second, silent videos, launches in the U.S. market today. The iOS and Android app allows users to post video updates of spontaneous moments to their 1-10 closest friends. Tribe users are able to share their daily life with their inner circle while being protected from the unwanted eyes of parents, colleagues, and the greater public.
"We designed Tribe upon the realization that no one truly owns their content on social media at this point. Facebook has been selling our information to advertisers since 2008 and Instagram "owns" and tracks all the photos we post," stated Dana Adam, CEO of Tribe. "Out of all of the social accounts I have, I no longer know who can really see what, in spite of all the privacy settings these platforms offer. Whether family or colleagues, someone always slips through the cracks. With Tribe, you choose your 10 closest friends and can instantly share videos with them that no one else can see."
One of the key features of the app is based on absolute privacy. Users can only post real-time shots as their video status, which replace their previous video status. Videos are not saved on the app's servers unless the user has specifically chosen to share it on other social networks.
"Today everything has a carbon copy. As a mother of two, I fear the future of my kids' privacy. What used to be spontaneous, perhaps wild but harmless moments of kids' youth are now permanent records on many social media apps, records that are potentially accessible by an unwanted audience," Adam stated.
"Tribe is for sharing these moments," Adam continued. "A Tribe video is one that you will most likely never post to other social media and is only meant for friends that won't judge you or betray your trust. These videos are personal or are simply insignificant to your larger circles, like being sloppy (and loving it) while eating popcorn and watching a movie. Within their Tribe, users can finally be themselves."
