WHO SHOT ROCK & ROLL: The Film Selected For Tribeca Film Festival 2013

LOS ANGELES, March 14, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- The Annenberg Space for Photography's exhibition documentary, WHO SHOT ROCK & ROLL: The Film, has been selected as an official entry in the 2013 Tribeca Film Festival in the category of "Shorts in Competition: Documentary."

WHO SHOT ROCK & ROLL: The Film celebrates the ground-breaking collaborations between the photographers and recording artists who came together to create some of the most enduring images in rock history. This is the second consecutive year that original content from the Annenberg Space for Photography has been accepted into competition at the renowned festival.

The critically-acclaimed documentary directed by Steven Kochones and produced by Arclight Productions was an exclusive component of the WHO SHOT ROCK & ROLL exhibition that ran at the Photography Space from June 23, 2012 through an extended run of October 21, 2012 to record-breaking crowds.

"The Annenberg Foundation created the Annenberg Space for Photography to bring the art of photography to the public. We are excited to share this film and the photographers' stories with a new audience through the Tribeca Film Festival.  We are grateful for this recognition for the filmmakers and are pleased to have WHO SHOT ROCK & ROLL: The Film included in this illustrious festival," says Wallis Annenberg, Chairman of the Board, President and CEO of the Annenberg Foundation.

WHO SHOT ROCK & ROLL: The Film features photographs, interviews and behind the scenes footage with acclaimed photographers Ed Colver, Henry Diltz, Jill Furmanovsky, Lynn Goldsmith, Bob Gruen, Norman Seeff, Mark Seliger and Guy Webster.  The film, covering the early 1950s up to present day, explores the stories behind the photos, focusing on the relationship between photographer and artist, taking viewers on a visual journey through the many eras of rock and roll. Powerful imagery and insightful commentary give a unique glimpse into photography's impact on the ever-changing—but everlasting—culture of rock and roll. Shot in Los Angeles, New York and the United Kingdom, the film also includes appearances by Mary McCartney; iconic recording artists Alice Cooper, Debbie Harry and Henry Rollins; rock photography uber-collector Michael Ochs and Grammy-winning album cover designer Gary Burden.

The WHO SHOT ROCK & ROLL exhibit was originally shown and created by the Brooklyn Museum with guest curator and author Gail Buckland, who also appears in the documentary.

The film's press screening is scheduled for Tuesday, April 23 at 10:30 AM at Chelsea Clearview Cinemas (CCC) at 260 West 23rd Street (between 7th and 8th Avenues) New York, NY 10011.

WHO SHOT ROCK & ROLL: The Film will screen for the public over several days at the Tribeca Film Festival.
