WineBid.com(R) Wins Top-Selling Lot at 2010 Premiere Napa Valley Auction
NAPA, Calif., Feb. 25 /PRNewswire/ -- Every year WineBid.com, the premier Internet auction of fine and rare wines, participates in the Premiere Napa Valley Wine Auction. More than 200 Napa Valley Vintners create wines solely for this event.
In this year's auction WineBid.com was the successful bidder of Lot #43 donated by Shafer Vineyards. WineBid.com paid $37,000 for the quarter barrel, which was the highest amount paid for any lot in the auction. The Cabernet Sauvignon comes from Shafer's Sunspot Vineyard in the Stag's Leap Appellation. The winery notes that "with its steep slope and western exposure, Shafer's Sunspot Vineyard resembles its namesake, a favorite Utah ski run where John Shafer taught his children to ski. Sunspot forms the backbone of Shafer's Hillside Select. Here it stars solo in a quarter barrel lot from the 2008 vintage."
"We are pleased to support the annual Premier Napa Valley auction, the proceeds of which provide funding for projects supported by the Napa Valley Vintners," said Jerome Zech, WineBid.com's Chief Executive Officer. "Shafer Vineyards makes some of the region's finest wines and their wines are very much admired by WineBid.com's customers." The Shafer Premiere Napa Valley Lot #43 wine will be released in 2011 and offered exclusively to WineBid.com's customers.
Established in 1996, WineBid.com is the largest online auction for fine and rare wines with more than 58,000 registered bidders. At WineBid.com each bottle of wine is appraised, inspected and stored in our climate controlled warehouse in Napa, California.
