Wings of Rescue to Airlift At-Risk Oakland Animal Shelter Dogs to Rescue, then Permanent Homes in Washington State and Canada
LIVERMORE, Calif., Nov. 10, 2014
Who: |
Wings of Rescue, a group of volunteer pilots organized to fly at-risk shelter pets to new homes, will fly dogs rescued from Oakland Animal Services to Bellingham, WA, where they will be met by LeftBehindK9Rescue, Rescued Hearts Northwest, Size Small Dog Rescue, and Dachshund Rescue Team, as part of a coordinated rescue operation. Size Small Dog Rescue and Dachshund Rescue Team are based in Canada; their staff will drive to Bellingham to welcome the plane and its four legged passengers. All four rescue organizations will then act quickly to find loving, permanent homes for the Oakland dogs. |
When: |
Wednesday, November 12, 2014 |
Dogs will arrive at the airport at 8:30 AM, and then be loaded onto the plane. |
|
Where: |
Livermore Airport, 636 Terminal Cir, Livermore, CA 94551 |
Why: |
Every day, amazing dogs wake up for the last time in animal shelters nationwide. In cities like Oakland, CA there are often hundreds of dogs in shelters (especially Chihuahuas) and not enough homes. Unfortunately, this can mean euthanasia. |
Wings of Rescue flies these dogs to regions like Washington State and British Columbia with a surplus of eager families just waiting to adopt a dog. LeftBehindK9Rescue, Rescued Hearts Northwest, Size Small Dog Rescue, and Dachshund Rescue Team welcome these dogs, provide temporary foster homes, and then act quickly to get them adopted into permanent, loving homes. |
