Wolf Rifkin Named Pro Bono Law Firm of the Year
Legal Aid Center Cites Firm's 100% Involvement in Children's Project
LAS VEGAS, Feb. 15, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- The Legal Aid Center of Southern Nevada named Wolf, Rifkin, Shapiro, Schulman & Rabkin its Law Firm of the Year after 100 percent of the firm's lawyers in Nevada volunteered in 2016 for the Children's Attorneys Project.
The firm, which has offices in Los Angeles, Las Vegas and Reno, received the award at a luncheon at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino.
According to the Legal Aid Center, the firm "joined the 100% club this year by committing each of their attorneys to take at least one pro bono case. Their attorneys adopted the Children's Attorneys Project and provided representation to several abused and neglected children. They stepped in at a time when our waiting list was overwhelmed with children in need of a voice, and we are so grateful for their commitment to this program."
The firm decided to go all in to serve those who are most deserving and to set an example for following the state bar's expectation that all lawyers provide pro bono services, said Don Springmeyer, the firm's managing partner of complex litigation for its Nevada offices. He added that he was not even aware of the award when the firm made the commitment to dedicate several hundred hours to representing children who needed a separate voice from their parents in court proceedings.
"We were pleasantly surprised at receiving the award, and gratified for the recognition and the opportunity to encourage our colleagues in other firms to do even more than they're doing," said Springmeyer. "We found it particularly gratifying to provide skilled legal services for abused and neglected children who might not otherwise have a voice in the courtroom."
