Women's Roundtable Discussion During Democratic National Convention Harnessing Black Women's Political Power

CHARLOTTE, N.C., Sept. 3, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- According to Pew Research, "much of the surge in black voter participation in 2008 was driven by increased participation among black women. The voter turnout rate among eligible black female voters increased 5.1 percentage points, from 63.7% in 2004 to 68.8% in 2008. Overall, among all racial, ethnic and gender groups, black women had the highest voter turnout rate in 2008. The National Coalition on Black Civic Participation's Black Women's Roundtable (BWR) and Higher Heights for America will host a Women's Roundtable during the Democratic National Convention Black Caucus Meeting to discuss how to harness the power of the Black women's vote." The Black Caucus meeting will take place Monday, September 3, 10:00 am – 1:00 pm. The discussion begins at 11:30 am.
