Working Together to Help Houston-Area Residents Affected by Hurricane Harvey

OKLAHOMA CITY, Aug. 30, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Before Hurricane Harvey made landfall Fri., Aug. 25, Feed the Children was working behind the scenes with several of its partner agencies to allocate semitrucks filled with food, water and disaster relief supplies for those who would be affected by the impending storm.

Today, as flood waters continue to rise at an alarming rate, members of the Feed the Children team are traveling to Houston to stage a warehouse to serve as its hub for disaster relief and response operations.

The first of 12 semitrucks loaded by Feed the Children will arrive in Houston today, pending road closures and overall conditions. Several of the loads were sponsored through a $70K donation by longtime supporter Teleperformance. Additional corporate partners like StarKist® and Niagara Bottling LLC have donated StarKist Tuna Snack Kits and bottled water to help displaced residents.

The multiple truckloads of supplies will further outreach efforts across the Texas Gulf Coast by Feed the Children in conjunction with its partner agencies such as Reach Out America, Midwest Food Bank, Convoy of Hope, Operation Compassion and NACC Disaster Services. Children and families in the wake of the storm can expect to receive much-needed items like:

• Ready to eat food
• Bottled water
• Flashlights
• Batteries
• Toilet paper
• Hygiene items
• Shampoo
• Toothbrushes/toothpaste
