World Book Night U.S. Announces Two Media Tools: Interactive Volunteer Giver-By-Zip-Code Map, Official Store And Library List
NEW YORK, April 9, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- World Book Night U.S. announced today that two new online resources have been posted for local media access.
For the first time, the locations of all 25,000 World Book Night volunteers have been mapped by zip code with an interactive map tool, so media can easily calculate the number of World Book Night givers in their market.
Also, a complete list of all 2,300 bookstores and libraries acting as local World Book Night hosts has been posted.
World Book Night U.S. Executive Director Carl Lennertz said: "We feel these are very helpful new World Book Night resources for media. When we posted static giver maps without volunteer totals the last two years, our Facebook traffic exploded with excitement, as givers got to see for the first time that they were part of something big. We had to manually tally the number of givers in any town, county, or state for all media queries, as well as send the nearest list of WBN host stores and libraries to each media outlet. It's a record total for us this year, and the list supplies the media with the easy answer to the next most-asked question: Who's supporting WBN in our market? Along with the hundreds of store and library receptions, where media can interview givers, we feel these two new tools will greatly magnify the local pride in World Book Night."
Lennertz added: "While we do not release our volunteer contact info, your local store or library may feel comfortable putting you in touch with some of its customers/patrons to interview before April 23."
