World-Class Custom Thermoforming Company, Flexpak Corporation, Celebrates 40 Years of Quality Packaging Services
PHOENIX, Feb. 24, 2014 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- World-class custom thermoforming company for the medical, food, electronics, and retail industries, Flexpak Corporation (http://www.flexpakcorp.com/), is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year.
Flexpak founder and Chairman of the Board, Donald E. Bond, believes ensuring Flexpak's longevity involves building relationships with employees, customers and suppliers by cultivating a culture of honesty, fairness, reason, and doing the right thing. This tradition is commonly known as Flexpak's Core Policy. It is printed on the back of every company business card.
"Flexpak is not like publicly traded companies that have to show results every quarter. Sadly, many people's images of American business are the stories of the high-powered, high-paid, high-bonus executives that have to show quick-term results. Then they collect their bonus and they're off to another job. In my business, you can't do that. If your goal is to build something to last, you have to do what it takes to make it last."
"I think that's the reason we've lasted long-term," Mr. Bond said. "I'm proud of our ability to stay in business almost 40 years when there is such a high mortality rate among companies like ours."
For Mr. Bond, it isn't about being the biggest… it's about being the best. Mr. Bond established an IRS-qualified Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) in 1988. "As of 2010, employees own more than 50 percent of the company. My goal is to get 100 percent employee ownership," he said. "The ESOP trust is a great way to maintain ownership longevity of the company."
Another way of building lasting relationships with employees are Flexpak paid employee health, dental and life insurance premiums, decades before mandatory employee insurance laws. To provide maximum family time, Flexpak has a four day work week schedule. Vacation accrual begins immediately after a short probationary hiring experience.
Giving back to the community is also a major focus of Flexpak. As a community partner, Flexpak participates in annual Cancer Walk-a-Thons (www.cancer.org) matching employee pledged cash contributions with company contributions. In recent years, complementing our company's increasing medical device tray manufacturing, Flexpak has partnered with Project C.U.R.E (www.projectcure.org) the world's largest provider of donated medical supplies and equipment to developing countries around the world.
Flexpak Corporation is proud of its 40 year anniversary, and most proud of their employee's continued tradition of embracing honesty, fairness, reason, and doing the right thing while serving customers and connecting with suppliers.
