World premiere of controversial documentary "Caesar's Messiah: The Roman Conspiracy to Invent Jesus" at Laemmle Music Hall on Sept. 28

BEVERLY HILLS, Calif., Sept. 10, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- The controversial documentary film "Caesar's Messiah: The Roman Conspiracy to Invent Jesus" premieres at the Laemmle Music Hall Theater, 9036 Wilshire Blvd., Beverly Hills, Friday September 28, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. and will run through October 4^th.

The documentary, by filmmakers Fritz Heede and Nijole Sparkis, is based on the best-selling book of the same name by author Joseph Atwill, an internationally known Bible scholar who discovered that the Flavian Caesars of Rome in the first century created the Gospels as a political tool to quell the Jewish rebellion and create pacifistic followers throughout their empire.  The film interviews seven Bible scholars who present convincing evidence to support Atwill's thesis.

The most notable Bible scholar to appear in the film is Robert Eisenman, Director of the Institute of Judaeo-Christian Origins at California State University Long Beach.  Eisenman led the campaign to open access to the Dead Sea Scrolls, and Atwill and Eisenman worked together on the dating of the Scrolls.

"After a decade of research, my 'Caesar's Messiah' thesis shows that Jesus is not an historical figure but that the events of Jesus' life were based on a Roman military campaign," states author Joseph Atwill.  The filmmakers add, "Through interviews with experts, the film shows that the supposed 'Second Coming' refers to an historical event that already occurred, the teachings of Christ came from the ancient pagan mystery schools, and the Gospels were written by a family of Caesars and their supporters who left us documents to prove it."

Other scholars in the documentary include Timothy Freke presenting the Gnostic point of view, atheist Kenneth Humphreys, mythicist Acharya S / D.M. Murdock, literary analyst John Hudson, and Dr. Rod Blackhirst of La Trobe University, Australia, who discovered the Flavian origins of the Gospels independently of Joseph Atwill.  The documentary points out that new perspectives on the Gospels can only come from maverick scholars working outside the consensus of established institutions.

The non-profit C3: Center for Conscious Creativity will end the one-week Laemmle run with their own event on Friday, October 5th^th in the high-tech Vortex Dome at LA Center Studios, 1037 West 6th Street in downtown Los Angeles.  Part of the C3's Visions from the Edge series, the event is titled "The Future of Religion", and will feature a panel of scholars Robert Eisenman, Joseph Atwill, and John Hudson, as well as international scholars appearing via Skype - Kenneth Humphreys from England, and Rod Blackhirst from Australia – discussing Atwill's discovery.  Film clips will be shown, and the scholars will answer questions on the deconstruction of Christianity and its impact on the future of religion.

The Sept. 28^th Laemmle theatre premiere will be attended by celebrities and members of the press. After the screening, noted international scholars Robert Eisenman and Joseph Atwill, along with filmmakers, Heede and Sparkis, will answer questions.
