World Vision statement on humanitarian aid funding

SEATTLE, March 11, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- For 75 years and through 14 U.S. presidential administrations, World Vision has been living out our calling to work in the hardest places in the world to be a child. The lifesaving help provided by the U.S. for children and families has yielded strong returns, helping to cut deaths from AIDS and childhood diseases by more than half, save millions of lives from hunger and starvation, and provide millions with access to clean water.

Through programs like the global effort to combat polio, World Vision has helped deliver vaccinations for as many as 4 million children every year. This 25-year program has not only saved children worldwide from death and disability — it has also helped keep the deadly disease from spreading to our shores and our children.

Humanitarian dollars also provide vital economic support to U.S. farmers in the form of business revenue as they sell crops (like sorghum, beans, peas, corn, and oil) that then support families facing famine or severe malnutrition in places where food supplies cannot be purchased or sourced locally. These aid programs sustain a vast network of as many as 60,000 American jobs across the entire supply chain, from farmers to truckers to port workers and beyond. In the past year alone, humanitarian funding in partnership with U.S. small businesses reached $1 billion, helping to strengthen American innovation and leadership.

Trusted faith-based organizations like World Vision are critical humanitarian aid implementers, since 85% of people around the world are people of faith. World Vision serves as Jesus' hands and feet wherever we work, including places where few Christian organizations are invited — partnering with local leaders in the shared goal of fuller lives for the children in their communities.
