World's Fittest Descend Upon Miami

MIAMI, Jan. 9, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- The worldwide fitness community is heading back to Bayfront Park for the 8th annual "Wodapalooza CrossFit Festival," over MLK Jr. Day weekend.

Nearly 2,000 athletes of all ages, sizes, and abilities will compete across 40 divisions, including the world's most elite, who will be vying for their piece of a $300,000+ cash prize purse and a coveted invite to the 2019 Reebok CrossFit Games. But competition isn't the only thing on the schedule; the weeklong celebration of "fitness, community, and life" is chock-full of festivities for the young, the old, the fitness enthusiast, and the South Floridian looking for healthy fun in the sun.

In addition to the jam-packed four days of competition, "WZA" shall feature seminars with subject matter experts covering all things fitness and nutrition. Live music, a shopping metropolis, and healthy local fare are also on the menu for attendees to enjoy. Come watch in awe at the inspirational adaptive athletes, participate in daily workouts, have a drink at the beer garden, and enjoy the scenery at the unique Bayside Stage, one of three competition venues.

Since last year's event, the Wodapalooza was sanctioned by CrossFit Inc., first place finishers (male, female, team) will receive an invitation to compete at the CrossFit Games. The world's very best will be gunning for the top spots, including Canadian, Patrick Vellner, the two-time reigning "Fittest Woman on Earth" from Australia, Tia-Clair Toomey, and the Miami hometown hero and three-time Wodapalooza champion, Noah Ohlsen.

At its core, Wodapalooza is a community-focused event with a strong desire to benefit others. A portion of the event's proceeds benefit Barbells for Boobs, a 501(c)3 focused on the early detection of breast cancer. WZA is also supported by its partners, including ROMWOD, Reebok, Born Primitive, CBD Medic, Jaguar/Land Rover of South Florida, Rogue, WIT, Bodybuilding.com, Zevia, Cellucor, and the US Air Force Special Operations.
