DELAFIELD, Wis., March 6, 2020 /PRNewswire/ -- The third annual 5k.50.50. Run/Walk for Mental Health kicks off April 26, 2020, with a goal to engage 5,000+ participants, reach 150 million people and raise $250,000 supporting their mission of making the world a better place for those suffering from mental illness.
The event is the only run/walk of its kind in, with participants across the US joining them, as they complete a 5K run, for 50 consecutive days, in every state. This year's journey begins in Hawaii and ends in Milwaukee, Wis, on June 14, 2020.
"There is a lot of buzz around the 2020 event. We have past participants coming back to join us, and we are thankful for their momentum in building awareness to reduce the stigma of mental health challenges," says Dr. Adel Korkor, founder of the event. "However, there is still much to do, considering half of all Americans will have a diagnosable mental health issue in their lifetime."
Event sponsors include Mental Health America (MHA) and the Dohmen Corporation. MHA is their National Charity Partner, with participation through many MHA chapters across the US.
The Dohmen Corporation seeks to transform health care from a medication focus to nutrition, exercise and wellness. "We are grateful for the support of our sponsors. We are honored to have them stand with us as we seek to change mental health care in America, one step at a time," Korkor states.
