WorldVentures Foundation, Nancy Lieberman Charities Build First DreamCourt for Oklahoma City Youth

PLANO, Texas, Sept. 25, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Santa Fe South Elementary School in Oklahoma City celebrated the opening of the area's first DreamCourt™ on Sept. 24, 2015, thanks to a collaboration among WorldVentures Foundation™, Nancy Lieberman Charities and Sport Court^®. DreamCourts are top-quality, multipurpose play spaces built in lower-income communities to promote fitness and fun. Local dignitaries, event sponsors and community members gathered for the DreamCourt induction at Santa Fe South—which is home to Boys & Girls Clubs of Oklahoma County.

"The goal of the DreamCourt program is to keep children off the streets and to provide them with a safe and competitive environment where they can develop skills such as teamwork and good sportsmanship," explained Gwyneth Lloyd, executive director of WorldVentures Foundation.

Dean Blevins, sports caster for KWTV-News 9 and co-host of "The Total Dominance Hour" radio show, emceed the event. Speakers included Ward 5 Councilman David Greenwell, Oklahoma County Commissioner Brian Maughan, Santa Fe South Schools Superintendent Chris Brewster and Boys & Girls Clubs of Oklahoma County President and CEO Jane Sutter.

Basketball Hall-of-Famer Nancy Lieberman, founder and chairwoman of Nancy Lieberman Charities, was unable to attend due to her obligations as assistant coach of the Sacramento Kings, but she shared her sentiments with the audience through a letter.

"I am living the dream that every one of the kids who will play on this court will have one day. I'm proud to be in Sacramento making history as only the second woman to coach in the NBA. But history doesn't mean anything unless we open the doors for others to fulfill a dream. Together, we will give young people in Oklahoma City, our next generation, a chance to be in a safe, healthy, competitive environment. This will help develop all the characteristics they need to grow their life skills." 

Of 20 DreamCourts built to date, 12 are located at Boys & Girls Clubs nationwide. The six-hoop DreamCourt constructed at Santa Fe South measures a mammoth 50-by-80 feet and features Sport Court's SportGame high-performance safety surface and bright blue and orange accents.
