Wounded Warrior Project® To Receive $100,000 From Man Whose Brother Committed Suicide
22 UNITED STATES VETERANS KILL THEMSELVES EVERY DAY
NEW YORK, Oct. 6, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- With suicide on the rise across America, THE LIFE IS PRICELESS FOUNDATION is handing a $100,000 check to Wounded Warrior Project® (WWP) on October 11, 2014 at their 3rd Annual gala held this year on the deck of The Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum. According to the Department of Veteran Affairs, 22 veterans commit suicide each day, 110 a week - that's nearly 6,000 veterans a year dying by their own hand. WWP works hard to combat these statistics by offering programs under their Mind Pillar that help warriors and their families maintain healthy, meaningful relationships while pursuing life goals free from the barriers or stigmas associated with mental health issues.
Timothy Price, whose brother David took his own life in 2011, began his fundraising efforts immediately thereafter with the founding of THE LIFE IS PRICELESS FOUNDATION recruiting friends and family in the effort. The hangar deck of The Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum will take on a World War II theme as over 600 young New Yorkers gather to celebrate life and to raise desperately needed funds to support suicide prevention that goes beyond the traditional hotline.
"The Life is Priceless Foundation is helping organizations on the cutting edge of suicide research & prevention and is dedicated to my brother David," says Timothy Price, Founder of the LIFE IS PRICELESS FOUNDATION. He continues, "While my brother wasn't a veteran himself, the work Wounded Warriors is doing in the area of mental health is tremendous and hopefully this donation will help save lives."
THE LIFE IS PRICELESS FOUNDATION thanks its sponsors: 212NYC.org, ACS Services, Brightroll, Hip Cricket, Ninth Decimal, Opera Media and SUNY Maritime.
