xMax Mobile Broadband System Sold to U.S. State Department Will Provide Emergency Communications to Ensure Diplomatic Personnel Safety in Mexico
xG Technology Announces Details of Previously-Disclosed $200,000 Order from U.S. Government Agency
SARASOTA, Fla., Nov. 5, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- xG Technology, Inc. ("xG" or the "Company") (Nasdaq: XGTI, XGTIW), a leading provider of wireless communications and spectrum sharing technologies, announces the details of a previously-disclosed order received from a U.S. government agency. The order, valued at approximately $200,000, was received from the U.S. State Department for xMax mobile broadband wireless networking equipment and associated support services. The equipment will provide essential communications to assure the safety of U.S. government personnel serving in Mexico, their families, and U.S. citizens in Mexico during disaster events. This is the second order to a U.S. government agency announced by xG Technology in the past two weeks. On October 26, xG announced that it received an order to supply xMax cognitive networking equipment to an agency of the U.S. Department of Defense.
Delivery and installation of the xMax equipment, which was scheduled for early November, was accelerated in order to be stationed in Mexico in advance of Hurricane Patricia, which made landfall in western Mexico on October 23. An xG Technology deployment team was on alert in the event immediate deployment would have been required. The xG team deployed the xMax system yesterday, and is currently providing local training and support for it.
The equipment covered by the purchase consists of a comprehensive wireless communications infrastructure that includes wireless access points, fixed and mobile personal hotspots (capable of supporting existing smartphones, tablets and laptops), a mobile control center and integrated satellite backhaul capabilities. The system will be preconfigured to establish instant, wide-area mobile communications on a rapid deployment basis, using an expeditionary design.
Among the notable capabilities integrated with the system are radio interoperability support to enhance inter-device communications, and command-and-control functionality to provide comprehensive situational awareness.
George Schmitt, CEO and Board Chairman of xG Technology, said, "We are pleased to announce the details of this order, as it showcases the appeal of xMax as a secure, rapid-deploy emergency communications system suitable for worldwide application. While xMax is perfectly suited for fixed, permanent installation across numerous commercial markets, this order demonstrates that it is also uniquely capable of deployment on an immediate basis to provide communications that are reliable, resilient, and inherently scalable. The choice of xMax by the State Department to support its disaster relief and crisis and contingency communications in Mexico underscores xG's ability to bridge a critical capability gap that is not being filled by existing wireless systems."
