Yoga Center of California Is Offering Free Meditation Classes
New Community Service Program Includes Ongoing, Weekly Free Classes
COSTA MESA, Calif., May 9, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- The growing trend toward adding meditation as a tool for greater physical and mental health and wellbeing is being propelled by numerous studies that demonstrate regular practice of meditation reduces anxiety and depression, improves focus, immunity, and emotional wellbeing. However, often it is difficult or costly to find easily accessible meditation instruction or classes. As a result, Yoga Center of California, the premier center offering yoga and meditation instruction since 1970, is launching a community service program that includes free, ongoing weekly meditation classes.
Each of the free classes centers on a diverse theme, including different techniques such as: using meditation for health and healing, calming the mind, meditations for inner and outer peace, as well as chakra meditations to open the heart. The dates and times for the classes are available here.
"Most people in Orange County, whether they are busy moms, corporate executives or young people starting their careers or in school, are dealing with high levels of anxiety," commented Yoga Center manager Chris Jensen. "We've taught meditation for 45 years in Orange County, and we know it helps people reduce stress, sleep better and enjoy a finer, more fulfilling quality of life. That's why we've decided it's important to make mediation accessible to everyone in the community by providing free meditation classes."
To attend any or all of the free classes, please plan to arrive ten minutes before your first session, so we can get you registered. Contact [email protected] to pre-register for the meditation class or classes you want to attend.

About Yoga Center of California
Yoga Center has been the leading center for both postures and meditation for the last 45 years for two main reasons: 1) its unique method of teaching and 2) the background and experience of its teachers.
Unique method of teaching: Yoga Center teaches asanas (exercises) in an authentic yoga style, the way they have been taught for centuries by yogis to gain maximum health, vitality and inner peace. While people really enjoy the way Yoga Center teaches asanas, these exercises are not enough to hold onto the calmness, focus, relaxation and vitality experienced from yoga. That's why all Yoga Center classes also have a strong focus on meditation.
Background and experience of the teachers: All Yoga Center teachers studied yoga postures and meditation for years with yoga master, Guru and founder of the Yoga Center, Ramakrishna Ananda. Ramakrishna Ananda founded the Yoga Center in 1970 and was the main teacher until he retired in 1995. The Yoga Center teacher training typically takes five years.
