ALFRED, Maine, July 11, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- York County Federal Credit Union presented $15,072 raised from the Run to End Hunger 5K to York County Shelter Programs (YCSP) in an effort to help end hunger in York County, Maine.
The Run to End Hunger 5K, held on Saturday, May 20 at the YCSP Alfred campus, attracted runners and walkers from all over Southern Maine. With over 60 participants, the event raised over $15,000 that went directly to YCSP.
"It was very important for us to partner with York County Shelter Programs for our first 5K because of the impact they have in our local communities. The programs assist people suffering from addiction, mental health, poverty, and homelessness in a variety of capacities," said Erin Jones, Chairman of the Ending Hunger Committee at York County FCU. "York County Shelter Programs' campus was the perfect backdrop for the race. We hope more people and businesses will support our 5K as it grows bigger over the years.
