"Your Home for the Holidays" At the New River Inn Museum of History in Fort Lauderdale's Historic District

LAUDERDALE, Fla., Oct. 28, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- As the year draws to a close, the Fort Lauderdale Historical Society invites you to celebrate the season by making the New River Inn Museum of History "Your Home for the Holidays." Starting in November, the Fort Lauderdale Historical Society will host several holiday-themed events at its New River Inn Museum of History while showcasing the rich history of Fort Lauderdale and Broward County.

"The Historical Society really is the place to be this holiday season," said Patricia Zeiler, Executive Director of the Fort Lauderdale Historical Society. "Our holiday events will allow you to revel in the present while exploring the rich history of old Fort Lauderdale in truly historic surroundings – it's like nothing else in Fort Lauderdale."
The scheduled events will feature food and refreshments, drinks, old-fashioned fare, music, holiday lighting and decorations, tours of the historic buildings, boat tours, arts and crafts, carols and more!
The New River Inn Museum of History is located at 231 SW 2 Ave., Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

Harvest Bites and Holiday Lights
Thursday, November 13 from 5 to 9 p.m.
Cost is $20 for members, $35 for non-members. RSVP is required.

In partnership with the Riverwalk Trust's Light Up Lauderdale event, the Fort Lauderdale Historical Society will host its annual Harvest Bites and Holiday Lights. Participants can enjoy an open bar and heavy appetizers as the Historical Society lights up the New River Inn for the holiday season. There will also be holiday music on the balcony. After 7 p.m., there will be a special treat of cookies and punch on the porch for members of the Riverwalk Trust.
Holiday Twilight Tour
Thursday, December 4 from 6 to 8 p.m.
The event is free for members, $10 for non-members.

This event will feature holiday lights and decorations in the Historic District, a docent-led tour of the New River Inn and the King Cromartie House as well as eggnog and cookies and carols on the porch.
Holiday Craft Fair
Sunday, December 7 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Holiday crafts fashioned by local artists will be for sale at this seasonal Fort Lauderdale Historical Society staple. Guests can enjoy self-guided or docent led tours of the historic properties, have an old-fashioned lemonade, or join the Historic Walking Tour of the New River at 2:30 p.m.
Winterfest Viewing Party
Saturday, December 13 from 5 to 9 p.m.
Cost is $20 for members, $35 non-members.

Participants will enjoy a walking tour of the boats east of the New River Inn at 5 p.m. Afterward, there will be drinks and appetizers at 6:30 p.m. served at the New River Inn which offers a one-of-a-kind view of the legendary Winterfest Boat Parade.
Holiday Lights Boat Tour
Friday, December 19 from 6 to 8 p.m.
Cost is $30 members, $45 non-members. RSVP required.

This enchanting evening on the water will begin at the New River Inn with a docent-led tour of the historic district. Afterward, guests will board a private boat for a tour of the holiday lights along the New River and the intercoastal waterway.
