MIDDLETON, Wis., Oct. 10, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- When Ann Reichardt received the call from her business partner, the first-time Middleton author thought he was kidding. Even though her recently published book "The Dance Card" was starting to turn a few heads in the literary community, why was she being invited to attend the Washington, D.C. premiere of "Addicted," the Lionsgate studio film, which opened nationwide on October 10 and stars Hollywood veterans Boris Kodjoe, supermodel Tyson Beckford and Cuban heartthrob William Levy?
Courtesy of a connection that her partner had, two weeks later, it's October 6 and the statuesque divorcee found herself standing on the red carpet next to Zane, the prolific author who wrote "Addicted" in 2001 and has since racked up sales of more than 2.5 million books. Wearing multiple hats, Zane served as the executive producer of the film adaptation of her best selling book, the story of a high-end art rep whose life spirals dangerously out of control in a haunting tale of sexual addiction on overdrive.
"Definitely sexy and engrossing, 'Addicted' also examines important issues such as the horrific impact of addiction on families and careers. Whether it's drugs, alcohol, gambling, or in the case of Zoe Reynard, her sex addiction is no laughing matter. In sequence, yes, I dated them. Each had his own style, his own end game in mind," noted the retired nurse and now full-time author. "What I write about is how the 'dances' went and how those ten dancers either behaved or occasionally misbehaved. Many of the guys telegraphed their every move like sophomores at a high school dance. Often hilariously, a few times not. My dance partners ranged from a nervous Mr. Jitterbug to a quite smooth Mr. Waltz."
What's next for the mother of two adult daughters? "My goal is simple: To keep writing, take small steps forward and continue to hone my craft. It took 13 years for 'Addicted' to get to the screen and I was thrilled to be in the audience for its premiere. Would I like, one day, to see 'The Dance Card' adapted for the screen? Of course, I would. Zane is one heck of a role model for aspiring writers such as myself. She's worked hard and earned her success. Maybe I can as well," explained the younger sister of University of Wisconsin-Madison baseball and football legend Rick Reichardt, a member of the UW's Athletics Hall of Fame.
