Zap2it.com Strikes Advertising Sales Agreement with i.TV, Developer of Top-Rated Entertainment Guide App
Deal Expands Mobile Advertising Offerings on Apple iPhone, iPod touch and iPad Platforms
CHICAGO, April 7 /PRNewswire/ -- Zap2it.com today announced a new advertising sales agreement with i.TV, developer of the top-rated i.TV entertainment guide application for the Apple iPhone and iPod touch, and soon, the new iPad. Effective immediately, Zap2it will assume responsibility for selling advertising inventory on the i.TV app.
As a result of this partnership, Zap2it now represents two leading mobile applications offering advertisers access to the largest aggregated audience of entertainment guide app users.
Using industry-leading entertainment metadata from Tribune Media Services (TMS), the i.TV app helps mobile users stay connected to TV and movies while on the go. i.TV users can access TV listings customized for their cable or satellite systems and movie showtimes for theaters within close proximity of their locations. iTunes Store purchases can be made within the i.TV interface allowing users to buy and watch full TV show episodes, movie trailers and other video content on their mobile devices. Users can manage their Netflix queues and set up push TV program alerts through the app. The i.TV offering also allows users to remotely manage program recordings on broadband-connected TiVo® HD and HD XL DVRs and provides full remote control functionality for those devices.
Since first debuting in the iTunes App Store in October 2008, the i.TV application has consistently ranked in the top 100 free entertainment apps. There are currently more than 20,000 entertainment apps in the App Store with more being added on a regular basis. A version of the i.TV app for the new iPad is in development and scheduled for release in Q2, 2010.
Zap2it will sell advertising inventory on the i.TV app to its client-base of TV networks, program syndicators, movie studios and other marketers. Opportunities include standard mobile banner ads and high-impact interstitial units. By promoting entertainment offerings, products or services on the app, marketers in a range of categories can reach mobile consumers as they are engaged in the entertainment decision-making process. This provides an optimal opportunity to influence behavior and drive sales.
"Connected consumers rely on their mobile devices more than ever for entertainment-related activities from getting program recommendations and tune-in information to watching video," said Kathy Tolstrup, General Manager of Sales and Marketing for Tribune Media Services' Entertainment Products division. "We're excited to add i.TV to our suite of marketing solutions and look forward to bringing together our advertising clients with engaged, entertainment-loving mobile audiences."
Brad Pelo, i.TV CEO added, "The i.TV app is among the very best on the market. So it's fitting that it will be represented by the Zap2it team which has a proven track record developing effective marketing solutions for its clients."
