Zinwave Provides Cutting-Edge Coverage Solution for the Iconic Harpa Concert Hall and Convention Centre

CAMBRIDGE, England, Dec. 1, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Harpa Concert Hall and Conference Centre (Harpa CHCC) is part of an extensive harbour development project in Reykjavik, the East Harbour Project. As the name indicates, the overall objective of the project is to expand and revitalise Reykjavík's eastern harbour with a new downtown plaza, a shopping street, a hotel, residential buildings, educational institutions, and mixed industry. It is hoped that the building will become a significant icon in the city – a visual attraction due to its stunning design

The main designers of the Harpa CHCC are Danish architectural firm Henning Larsen Architects and Icelandic architectural firm Batteriio Architects. Henning Larsen Architects has gained a reputation for superb design, including the new Opera House in Copenhagen.

The Harpa CHCC wanted to deploy an in-building wireless solution to improve cellular coverage and also to provide adequate Tetra coverage for emergency services. The contract was awarded to IAV, one of Iceland's leading companies' in all fields of construction, design and development. IAV selected the Zinwave 3000 DAS to provide the in-building wireless solution as it was the most cost effective and due to the ease and speed of installation.

The system comprises of 1 Primary Hub with 5 Remote Units connected locally and 3 Secondary Hubs and carries GSM 1800, Tetra and UMTS for 2 operators Vodafone and Siminn.

The Harpa CHCC is considering extending the system in the future with the addition of another service provider. Due to the future proof advantage the Zinwave 3000 active DAS has over other DAS solutions, the new services can simply be streamed onto the existing hardware structure with no additional cost or disruption.
