Dr. David Harris, Professor of Immunology at the University of Arizona in Tucson, assesses stem cells ready for banking at AdiCyte's laboratory. Stem cells from adipose tissue,or fat, have been used to engineer new blood vessels, bone tissue and cartilage, and are one of the fastest growing areas in regenerative medicine. Dr. Harris is considered the 'father of stem cell banking'. In 1991, he became the first person to bank stem cells for use by an individual when he banked his first child's cord blood stem cells. Since then, an estimated 1,000,000 individuals have stem cells banked for the future. (PRNewsFoto/AdiCyte)
