AgeWell New York Now Offers Three New Medicare Advantage Plans
LAKE SUCCESS, N.Y., Dec. 15, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- AgeWell New York, a Medicaid Managed Long Term Care Plan since 2012, recently launched three (3) new Medicare Advantage Prescription Drug (MA-PD) Plans to offer prospective members more health care options, more flexibility, and more personalized care. "We look at all our members as individuals, not ID numbers", says AgeWell New York Executive Director Tara Buonocore-Rut. "All their needs are different, and our highly trained staff treats them accordingly."
AgeWell New York's Medicare Advantage Plans are approved by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) as an alternative to the traditional Medicare program.
Although the Medicare Annual Open Enrollment Period (October 15-December 7) has passed, there are Special Enrollment Periods and reasons that permit individuals to join a Medicare Advantage Prescription Drug (MA-PD) Plan at other times during the year. Individuals may be eligible for AgeWell New York's MA-PD Plans all year long under the following conditions;
- Becoming newly eligible for Medicare (7 month Initial Enrollment Period)
- Moving outside the service area of a current plan
- Recently returning to the United States after living permanently outside the U.S.
- Getting Extra Help paying for Medicare prescription drug coverage
- No longer qualifying for Extra Help paying for Medicare prescription drugs
- Moving into, living in or recently moving out of a long term-care facility
If you or a loved one is Medicare eligible, an AgeWell New York MA-PD Plan might be the answer to get the coverage you need, without the worry of cost. In addition to the traditional Medicare benefits, the plan will provide coverage for prescription drugs, dental care, hearing aids, and eyewear.
Depending on the plan, benefits may include:
- $0 Plan Premium
- $0 or Low Copays for Doctor Visits
- $0 Copay for Generic Drugs
- $0 Prescription Drug Deductible
Aside from striving to offer affordable health care options for its members, AgeWell New York prides itself on standing out among competitive plans. "Many of our lines of business have a large care management focus at the core," explains Buonocore-Rut. "We firmly believe that this is the key for helping people age in place and maintain wellness while living in the community."
In the cases where a member's condition demands more attention, and he or she can no longer remain in the home, an AgeWell New York Care Manager works with the member and the member's family to secure a permanent placement in a nursing home that is within the network. "Whenever someone comes to our door, we want to have a health plan that's right for them," explains Buonocore-Rut. "Our focus for 2015 is to be able to provide access to a wide range of plans, and to really extend our care management model as far as possible." AgeWell New York is currently enrolling new members in Suffolk, Nassau, Kings (Brooklyn), Queens, New York (Manhattan), Bronx, and Westchester counties.
