Americans Favor Mobile Apps, Text Messaging, E-Mails and Web Sites to Make Appointments with Dentists, Doctors, and Others
CHEVY CHASE, Md., Oct. 20, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- A majority of Americans would like to schedule different kinds of personal appointments by using mobile apps, e-mail, text messaging or websites, according to a new national survey. Fifty-three percent would like to use smartphone and computer-based technologies to book appointments with dentists, 60% with doctors, 66% with hair stylists, and 69% with nail specialists.
The survey was commissioned by PencilAppoint.com, a web site and app that makes it quick, easy and convenient to schedule and confirm various types of appointments. A new sister site, PencilEvent.com, is a membership-based shared social network. PencilEvent.com makes it possible for retirement communities to app source their entertainment and educational programs and automates the event management process. PencilEvent.com also provides more opportunities for talented performers, speakers and health and wellness providers that keep seniors active and engaged.
"The poll results reflect our increasing reliance on mobile technologies to book and keep track of the many meetings, obligations and responsibilities in our daily lives," said Mickey Macedo, spokesperson for PencilAppoint.com. According to the survey, almost a third of Americans would like to use mobile apps, e-mail or text messages to confirm appointments with their dentists and doctors, while 41% would like to use them to schedule appointments with nail specialists, and 44% with hair stylists.
The poll, conducted by Google Consumer Surveys Oct. 5 – 9, 2014, was based on 2,166 online responses and is representative of the national adult Internet population.
