Angola Cables and Akamai Join Efforts in West Africa
Telecommunication firm joins Akamai Network Accelerated Partner Program to improve online experience in the region
LUANDA, Angola, Dec. 12, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Angola Cables continues to improve the African Internet experience by announcing that it has joined Akamai Network Accelerated Partner Program. The network partnership with Akamai Technologies, a leading provider of cloud services for delivering, optimizing and securing online content and business applications, will enable Angola Cables to deploy an Akamai cluster within its Data Centre facility 'AngoNap' improving regional connectivity across the vast western coastline of West Africa to operators and ISP alike.
The node will add CDN capacity to Angola Cables' network and enable them to accelerate performance for Akamaized content such as HTTP content, rich media, downloadable files, video, music, software updates and other Web content requested by operators and Internet Service Providers. African end-users will in turn enjoy lower latency, faster speeds and more reliable service when accessing popular Web services and content from around the world.
"The partnership with Angola Cables allows us to extend the Akamai Intelligent Platform even deeper in the continent and encourage interconnections between operators in the region. The relationship is intended to help improve the Quality of Experience for end users when accessing our customers' content and aid in lowering the overall cost of Internet access in the region," said Martin Hannigan, Director of Network Architecture at Akamai Technologies.
"Angola Cables is committed to making Angola the main hub for connectivity among West African countries and is willing to continue developing new strategic partnerships and expand its network and IP Transit offerings, in order to help our operators and service provider's customers to differentiate themselves in today's competitive and highly-evolving African marketplace," concludes Mr. Antonio Nunes, Angola Cables.
