BagIQ Launches Android App, Making it Effortless to Track & Analyze the Quality, Nutrition, Price of Food Purchases
Health & Nutrition App Passively Logs Food Purchases, Analyzes All Ingredients, Suggests Cheaper, Healthier Items Based on Personalized Goals
NEW YORK, Dec. 9, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- BagIQ, the first digital health and nutrition system to make it simple to track & analyze the quality, nutrition and price of the food products you buy, today launches its free Android app, joining the existing website and iOS app.
BagIQ changes the way consumers make food purchasing decisions by automatically and effortlessly logging every food item and meal bought online, with a loyalty card or a single-click photo of a paper receipt into a personal diary, analyzing the ingredients, nutritional value and price to give it a score from 1-1,000. BagIQ then uses the data to automatically suggest alternative, higher-scoring products that better fit the user's individual health goals, such as lowering carbs, fats, sodium, sugar, cholesterol or increasing fiber, protein, vitamins, etc.
BagIQ's proprietary algorithm taps into extensive food and nutrition databases, allowing BagIQ to process and analyze a continually-growing number of food items from over 100 chains, including Walmart, Amazon, Target, Walgreens, Safeway, Stop & Shop, Instacart, Fresh Direct, etc., as well as online food delivery services such as Seamless and Grubhub, with more being added daily.
BagIQ's unique food scoring algorithm was created in collaboration with leading dietitians in North America and Europe and is loosely based on the scoring methodology of the NuVal system, created by David Katz, M.D., Director of the Yale-Griffin Prevention Research Center.
"Knowing and understanding what we eat is important, but figuring it out and tracking it is so hard that most people won't do it for long," said Matt Stanfield, Founder and CEO of BagIQ. "We created BagIQ to make it as easy and effortless as possible for people to make the small changes to their diets that will make a big impact on their lives and their health."
